Imagine a place where creatives gather. Where thoughts and concepts are fabricated, tested, incubated and developed into highly valued works of genius. Houston Makerspace is that place.
They opened on April 12, 2014, and currently reside in an 8,500 square foot warehouse just east of downtown Houston. Their space is comprised of 7 work shops and multiple community areas. These areas are:
- Wood Shop
- Jewelry Shop
- Machine Shop
- Ceramics Shop
- Welding Shop
- Rapid Prototyping Shop
- Community Garden
- Print Shop
- Kitchenette (sponsored by Lomi Coffee, Kind Snacks, Buffalo Bayou Brewing and 8th Wonder Brewery)
Membership at Houston Makerspace starts at $50/month or $20/day. Dedicated desks, co-working space, and private artists’ studios are also available for an additional fee (please email them at firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about current availability).
Houston Makerspace takes the risk of opening and operating your own space out of the equation and reduces it to a fixed cost on which to base your business plans. You only pay for what you use, removing the burden of long leases. It’s like a gym, for makers!
