What do women’s voices bring to the fabric of our society? Are their voices different from men’s? If there is a difference, is it a difference that is now more relevant than ever?
This six-week workshop provides a safe space for women of all ages to tell their stories and examine their journeys as individuals, as women, and as members of a larger world. By reading other women, we will explore themes that lead us to examine the bones of our lives. Such examination can help us to become more aware of the path our one “wild and precious life” is taking, and to celebrate that path through our own writing.
Our texts will be Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own, which explores the importance of women’s voices, and Gail Caldwell’s Let’s Take the Long Way Home, which celebrates the power of women’s friendships.
There will be an additional voluntary reading of participants’ work in the Hines Center’s labyrinth after the session ends, open to friends.
